Experience at SPEDA

Gus acted as General Manager for South Pacific Electronic Design Associates Ltd. (SPEDA) for three years. In his role as GM, Gus managed all aspects of small business enterprise operation, including Sales, Marketing, Operations HR, Finance and Cash-Flow.

Business turnaround

Gus joined SPEDA in 2005 after sales were in decline four years running and profits were close to zero. Gus helped turn SPEDA around by managing cash-flow and developing strategic business relationships with new and existing SPEDA clients both in New Zealand and in the United States of America. Experience at Tait

Gus is a former Product Group Marketing Manager for Tait Electronics. In his various roles at Tait, Gus managed both line and staff functions and held marketing responsibility for Tait products throughout the world.

Strategic marketing plans.

Gus helped guide the development of Tait products for seven years, a task that involved the drawing up of extensive business cases and strategic marketing plans. In particular, he applied his analytical and problem-solving skills to good effect to investigate the future market for digital radios, interview prospective customers regarding their digital-radio needs, and then devise an appropriate marketing strategy for Tait's new digital products.

International connections.

Gus was instrumental in the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans for Tait's six regional sales offices in North America, Europe, South East Asia, China, Australasia, and South America. Together with the staff at these offices, Gus set up and managed marketing programmes and budgets for the company's products. He represented Tait as a speaker at numerous international trade shows and product-launch events. His passion for public speaking soon earned him the title of "The Tait Evangelist".

Focus groups and multi-disciplinary teams.

As a Product Group Marketing Manager, Gus regularly led focus groups and brainstorming sessions, and worked with a multi-disciplinary team. This brought to the fore his strong organisational skills, focus on goals, and systems approach. His skills in attaining goals by encouraging colleagues and subordinates, and influencing high-level decision-makers, resulted in a history of successful outcomes.
